SAN ANTONIO – We live in one of the largest metro areas in the country without a freestanding children's hospital.
For too long, our kids, families and health professionals have made do with a fragmented system and a standard of care that's far from ideal.
Some health systems have been at the drawing board a few times already, and we're glad to see new movement on the issue.
But this time around, they must put our Children's care ahead of Politics and Location.
San Antonio deserves a free standing Children's Hospital that is tied to a University Medical research and training facility. This combination provides the best care for our kids.
So as proposals develop, we hope decision makers will think big and think long-term.
That might mean making some tough decisions, but we need do right by our kids now and generations from now.
