Group of men arrested in fatal beating, robberies in west San Antonio

San Antonio police track suspects to home on Fortuna Street at 36th Street

A crime spree early Friday morning left a man dead and landed three men in police custody.

San Antonio police said two of the men are accused of robbing two different men and beating another to death.

They were identified around noon on Friday as Tyler Miller, 20; and Christopher Padilla, 21. Miller has been charged with murder. Padilla was charged with robbery and murder.

Another man, Oscar Dewayne Pena, 35, was also arrested on municipal court warrants.

Officers received a call for the first robbery around 1 a.m. Friday at Tiffany's Cabaret in the 8700 block of Wurzbach.

A witness gave police a description of the the vehicle the suspects were driving along with a partial license plate number.

That description sent police to the house where the vehicle is registered.

"Officers were responding to this location in the 4200 block of Fortuna ... to investigate that case when a second call came out nearby in the 500 block of Old Highway 90," San Antonio police Sgt. Javier Salazar said.

The same vehicle was then reported outside a bar near Old Highway 90 and Cesar Chavez. Police said the same suspects fatally beat a man and stole his wallet.

Police ran a cross check on the vehicle and found a location where it was registered.

That led officers to a home on Fortuna near 36th Street.

Police surrounded the home and two of the suspects came out peacefully. Officers had to go inside to arrest the other suspect.
