BALCONES HEIGHTS, Texas – A man arrested for shoplifting was found dead in a holding cell a short time later.
Around noon Friday, the 45-year-old was arrested. He was put in a holding cell around 1 p.m., said Balcones Heights spokesman Lorenzo Nastasi.
The man, whose name has not been released, was found hanging in a holding cell around 1:30 p.m.
Nastasi said the man was taken to University Hospital where he was declared dead.
The man's death is being investigated as an apparent suicide.
