New Braunfels police arrest hit-and-run driver

Mateo Cabellero, 21, faces 2nd degree felony charge

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – The New Braunfels Police Department  arrested the man they said killed 42-year-old Richard Hafley Oct. 24.

Mateo Cabellero, 21, is accused of hitting, and killing, Hafley with a black Nissan Titan pickup truck in the 1700 blk of South Seguin Avenue.

Wednesday afternoon detectives received a tip that the truck police were seasrching for was a body shop in New Braunfels.

Investigators said they were able to trace the vehicle back to Cabellero and arrest him.

If convicted Cabellero faces second degree felony if convicted.
