SAN ANTONIO – Memorial Day services were held across San Antonio on Monday.
People gathered at Fort Sam Houston to honor those who gave their lives for our country.
A large crowd was on hand at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery for the special ceremony.
Those who were there say it is important to remember the true meaning of this day of remembrance.
"It's not a day for hamburgers or hot dogs or barbecue ribs," said Army veteran Rufus Allen. "It's a day to celebrate our nation's heroes and I call all service members heroes, and the people who support those heroes. So this is what our day is about and this is what it means to me. And every chance I get, I will be here."
