Marshall Aponte to face charge of aggravated sexual assault

SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Police Department has issued an arrest warrant for a man accused of sexually assaulting a woman and beating her with a pistol at a hotel earlier this month.

Marshall Aponte will face a felony charge of aggravated sexual assault when he is taken into custody.

Aponte is accused of sexually assaulting a woman at an area hotel on August 3 then attacking her after she tried to get away, according to an SAPD report released Tuesday.

The suspect grabbed the victim by her hair, threw her onto the floor then used a pistol to "split her chin open," according to the report.

The woman had a bloody chin and blood running down her arms when officers arrived, the report said.

She was taken to a local hospital and later gave a statement to investigators with SAPD's Special Victims Unit.

Aponte's criminal history in Bexar County includes felony convictions for aggravated robbery and possession of a controlled substance.
