NEW BRAUNFELS – An 83-year-old man died Saturday morning after a cement truck struck his vehicle while traveling southbound on the Interstate 35 frontage road, police said.
Authorities said the driver of a cement truck hit the driver's side door of Carroll Dean Shelton's vehicle. Shelton was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center via AirLife where he was later pronounced dead, police said.
New Braunfels police shut down a portion of Southbound I-35 near Rueckle Road, where the crash happened, to conduct an accident scene reconstruction.
Police did not indicate what caused the driver of the cement truck to crash. That driver was uninjured.
