‘I'm at the mercy of the East Side,' widow pleads for clues in husband's death

Nicholas Ciarrocchi was killed in June 2017

SAN ANTONIO – Sunday marked six months since an East Side man was shot dozens of times right outside the MLK Foodmart.

Though time has passed, his wife is still begging the public to help police find out who killed him.

“The concept of 40 bullets going into not just the vehicle, but my husband’s body, it was beyond comprehension,” Katrina Ornelas said.

The police tape, evidence markers and blue Toyota Corolla riddled with bullets are gone, but the graphic details of what happened remains.

Ornelas said when she first met husband, Nicholas Ciarrocchi, it was love at first sight.

The pair married two years later, but their vow of "until death do we part" became all too real on the night he was gunned down.

Ciarrochi died just a month before the couple celebrated their third anniversary.

Despite the fact, there was a business operating across the street and the Foodmart has several surveillance cameras at the time of the shooting, no one has come forward saying they saw or heard anything.

Ornelas said she’s praying that someone who knows who her husband’s killer is will speak up.

“I'm at the mercy of the East Side,” she said. “I'm at the mercy of my neighbors. I'm at the mercy of this community.”
