Jury views sex photos in child porn trial of former H-E-B executive

Prosecutors describe pictures as ‘disturbing'

SAN ANTONIO – The jury in former H-E-B executive John Morgan Campbell’s trial was shown “disturbing, sexually explicit” photographs Friday as week one of the trial wrapped up.

At the outset of Campbell’s trial on promotion of child pornography charges, prosecutors apologized to the jury in advance for having to show the photographs.

The pictures, which showed teenage boys engaged in lewd sexual behavior, were seized from Campbell’s electronic devices at H-E-B. headquarters in early 2014.

Company executives alerted authorities and fired Campbell, 66, who at the time was a vice president with the company.

Sexually explicit Skype conversations were also retrieved and were published to the jury.

Forensic computer examiner David Torsiello read a portion of one conversation.

“Where’s your mother right now?” he read. “Safe enough to chat?”

The trial will resume Monday in Judge Catherine Torres-Stahl’s 175th District Court. Defense attorneys have indicated that they plan to call several expert witnesses.
