KSAT 12 News addresses reporting policy on local 'creepy clown' sightings

NEISD, NISD send notes home regarding social media posts

SAN ANTONIO – KSAT 12 News wants the public to know our policy regarding "creepy clown" sightings that have been reported across the nation, including in San Antonio.

This week, the North East Independent School District sent home notes to parents and guardians about some social media posts referencing "creepy clowns," with pictures and names of some schools the clowns will visit.

The note assured parents and guardians that the campuses are safe, and district officials will be proactive about the sightings.

Northside Independent School District also sent similar notes. NISD police provided extra patrols and surveillance after a post said some clowns would show up at one of the middle schools.

KSAT 12 News has decided that we will not report any clown sightings unless school districts or law enforcement have asked us to issue an alert. We will also report such stories if criminal activity  or arrests have been made involving clowns.
