Texas Parks and Wildlife says remains will be used for educational purposes

Staff from the Trans-Pecos Wildlife District shared photos of the massive, lifeless bear on Facebook.

Representatives for the district said the bear's skin and skull will be used for educational purposes and the bear's genetic material will be sent to a laboratory for analysis.

While bears can be dangerous, TPWD staff said people are statistically more likely to die from a dog attack, bee stings, car accident or murder than a bear attack.
