NCAA D-I Women's Basketball Committee visiting SA as part of Final Four bid

Alamo City is looking to host NCAA championship in 2021

SAN ANTONIO – Members of the NCAA Division I women’s basketball committee and its staff will be in San Antonio on Wednesday for a site visit as part of the 2021-2024 Women’s Final Four bid cycle. 

According to a press release, San Antonio is bidding to host the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship in 2021.

The Alamo City has hosted two previous Women’s Final Fours, in 2002 and 2010.

San Antonio has the record for the largest attendance at a Women’s Final Four, with 29,619 attending at the Alamodome in 2002.

San Antonio’s bid team includes members of San Antonio Sports, University of Texas at San Antonio, University of the Incarnate Word, Visit San Antonio, the Alamodome and the City’s Sports & Convention Facilities Department, according to the press release.

Eight other cities including Cleveland, Dallas, Houston, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Missouri, Minneapolis and Nashville, are also vying to host during the bid cycle.
