Tim Duncan files $1M lawsuit against financial adviser

Lawsuit alleges Charles Banks 'betrayed' Spurs star

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio Spurs star Tim Duncan has filed a lawsuit seeking more than $1 million in damages against a longtime personal and financial adviser.

The lawsuit claims Charles Banks of Georgia "betrayed" Duncan by pursuading him to invest money in hotel, beauty products, sports merchandise and wine industries.

In one of the investments, the lawsuit alleges Banks instructed Gameday Entertainment, LLC, to pay him 20 percent of money due to Duncan, which the lawsuit claims Duncan didn't authorize.

"Unfortunately, while Banks was willing to use his position with Gameday to secure payments for himself, he was not willing to ensure that Duncan's interests were protected," the lawsuit stated.

The lawsuit was filed Thursday night in Bexar County.
