Due to inclement weather, the FEMA COVID-19 testing site at the Brownsville Sports Park in Brownsville will delay its opening on Friday by three hours. The testing site will be open from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.Officials said individuals that were scheduled to test anytime between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. Friday will receive an email notification informing them of their updated schedule time. The testing site will resume its normal hours of 8 a.m. to 6 pm. This testing site will remain open for the next three weeks or while federal resources last. The testing site is only for those individuals who have registered online and received a confirmation.

At that same meeting, commissioners heard about opportunities to tap into two federal grant funds. The county would be on the hook only for paying those employees’ benefits out of pocket, at most $6,684, Roach told commissioners. The first marker under discussion was the “Presidio County” marker, which was placed on Highway 90, half a mile east of Marfa, in 1936 and commemorates the formation of Presidio County. County seat Fort Davis, 1875, Marfa, since 1885.”The second was the “Presidio – Oldest Town in America” marker, which is placed next to the Presidio County marker, just outside of Marfa.

Congress members ask Biden administration for resources to set up federal pilot community vaccination center in San Antonio area
SAN ANTONIO – Rep. Henry Cuellar and other Congress members representing the San Antonio area are urging the Biden administration to establish a federal pilot community vaccination center in the region. Cuellar -- along with Reps. Joaquin Castro, Chip Roy, Tony Gonzales, and Lloyd Doggett -- sent a letter to the federal government to request the community vaccination centers, which can administer 6,000 vaccines per day. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) -- in partnership with the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) and local officials -- would provide the necessary staffing and operational support to expand vaccination efforts in the area. “We applaud the work of the President and the Federal Emergency Management Administration to increase the availability of COVID-19 vaccines to underserved communities,” the Congress members wrote in their letter. “In addition to being the third most populous area in the state, Bexar County is ranked first in the Centers for Disease Control’s Social Vulnerability Index.
FEMA warns of hotel scam for people looking for shelter during Texas freeze

The FEMA Region 6 Twitter account posted there is a false phone number being shared with a message about FEMA paying for hotels for Texas Disaster Relief. Staging Management Team Atlanta is scheduled to arrive in Texas on Thursday to give additional support to the state. FEMA said the best information on legitimate sources of help in your area will come from local officials and the Texas Division of Emergency Management. FBI tracking 'extensive' online chatter about armed protests

Wray said the FBI was receiving a “significant” amount of information that it was pushing out to other law enforcement agencies ahead of the inauguration. States nationwide have already been stepping up security in preparation for possible armed protests and violence this weekend, particularly at statehouses amid legislative sessions and inaugural ceremonies. An FBI bulletin earlier this week warned of potential armed protests in all 50 states. The vice president visited with guard troops keeping watch outside the Capitol, telling them he’s familiar with the National Guard because he used to be a governor.
FEMA, President Trump approve request for hurricane relief after Hannas landfall
Greg Abbott today announced Sunday that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and President Donald Trump have granted an emergency declaration request in the wake of damage caused by Hurricane Hanna. FEMA is authorized to provide reimbursement for mass care, evacuation and shelter support at 75% federal funding. Abbott submitted the request Saturday. I thank President Trump and our partners at FEMA for their quick response in granting this Federal Emergency Declaration, Abbott said. We will continue to work with our federal and local partners as we assess the damage from Hurricane Hanna and may seek additional federal assistance as we continue to respond, recover, and rebuild our communities.
