Crooks end up withdrawing their plans after ATM break-in fails
SAN ANTONIO โ Some would-be burglars are empty-handed after their plans to break into an ATM on the cityโs Northwest Side failed. San Antonio police say the crooks set off an alarm inside the machine, which is outside a bank at the corner of Callaghan and Babcock roads. Nearby was a white pickup which police say was stolen and was being used by the criminals to try to steal or open the ATM. The crooks did manage to yank open part of the outer housing, but police say they did not get inside or get any of the cash. Crime scene investigators collected parts of the broken machine and truck as evidence, and dusted the pickup for fingerprints.
Man killed in West Side apartment complex shooting identified
SAN ANTONIO โ San Antonio police say a 35-year-old man was killed in a West Side shooting Monday night. The shooting happened in an apartment complex in the 1110 block of Callaghan Road near Culebra Road, police said. Authorities say the shooter fled while victim remained at the scene suffering from his gunshot wounds. C was found to have sustained gunshot wounds. EMS took over for officers in treating C. C was later pronounced on scene.
Armed man killed by SAPD at Northwest Side apartment was shot by 6 officers responding to childrenโs screams, police report says
According to the report, officers responding to the call originally couldnโt find anything, but as they were in the parking lot getting ready to leave, they heard a gunshot and children yelling and screaming inside an apartment. When the officers went to the apartment, a woman and five children ran out the unit, leaving an armed 44-year-old man inside, the report said. One of the officers tried to get the man, identified as Victor Sanchez, to drop his handgun, the report said. None of the officers were injured and will be placed on administrative leave pending a criminal and administrative investigations. According to the report, Sanchez was out on bond for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon case where the woman was the victim.
