Congress members ask Biden administration for resources to set up federal pilot community vaccination center in San Antonio area
SAN ANTONIO โ Rep. Henry Cuellar and other Congress members representing the San Antonio area are urging the Biden administration to establish a federal pilot community vaccination center in the region. Cuellar -- along with Reps. Joaquin Castro, Chip Roy, Tony Gonzales, and Lloyd Doggett -- sent a letter to the federal government to request the community vaccination centers, which can administer 6,000 vaccines per day. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) -- in partnership with the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) and local officials -- would provide the necessary staffing and operational support to expand vaccination efforts in the area. โWe applaud the work of the President and the Federal Emergency Management Administration to increase the availability of COVID-19 vaccines to underserved communities,โ the Congress members wrote in their letter. โIn addition to being the third most populous area in the state, Bexar County is ranked first in the Centers for Disease Controlโs Social Vulnerability Index.
FEMA warns of hotel scam for people looking for shelter during Texas freeze

The FEMA Region 6 Twitter account posted there is a false phone number being shared with a message about FEMA paying for hotels for Texas Disaster Relief. Staging Management Team Atlanta is scheduled to arrive in Texas on Thursday to give additional support to the state. FEMA said the best information on legitimate sources of help in your area will come from local officials and the Texas Division of Emergency Management. AdThe TDEM has a list of agencies that are providing aid throughout the state and a list of warming centers.

"I have not spoken with him about specifically FBI Director Wray in recent days," Psaki said. Wray was appointed in 2017 by President Donald Trump following Trump's firing of James Comey.

FBI tracking 'extensive' online chatter about armed protests

Wray said the FBI was receiving a โsignificantโ amount of information that it was pushing out to other law enforcement agencies ahead of the inauguration. States nationwide have already been stepping up security in preparation for possible armed protests and violence this weekend, particularly at statehouses amid legislative sessions and inaugural ceremonies. An FBI bulletin earlier this week warned of potential armed protests in all 50 states. The vice president visited with guard troops keeping watch outside the Capitol, telling them heโs familiar with the National Guard because he used to be a governor.
FEMA, President Trump approve request for hurricane relief after Hannas landfall
Greg Abbott today announced Sunday that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and President Donald Trump have granted an emergency declaration request in the wake of damage caused by Hurricane Hanna. FEMA is authorized to provide reimbursement for mass care, evacuation and shelter support at 75% federal funding. Abbott submitted the request Saturday. I thank President Trump and our partners at FEMA for their quick response in granting this Federal Emergency Declaration, Abbott said. We will continue to work with our federal and local partners as we assess the damage from Hurricane Hanna and may seek additional federal assistance as we continue to respond, recover, and rebuild our communities.
