Console Wars 2020: PS5 vs Xbox Series X
This time around itโs Microsoftโs Xbox series X versus Sonyโs Playstation 5. When it comes to internal specs, the Xbox series X is just a little more powerful than the PS5, but that difference is minimal when it comes to game play. Xbox just debuted its Xbox Game Pass and Sonyโs Playstation Now has been active for some time. Both consoles are also backwards compatible, which gives Series X owners access to Xbox One games, and PS5 owners access to PS4 games. The Xbox series X comes out November 10.
Micosoft will buy video game maker ZeniMax for $7.5 billion
REDMOND, Wash. โ Microsoft is buying the company behind popular video games The Elder Scrolls, Doom and Fallout. The software giant said Monday that it is paying $7.5 billion for ZeniMax Media, the parent company of video game publisher Bethesda Softworks. Microsoft said it is buying Bethesda in part to beef up its Xbox Game Pass game subscription service, which it says has over 15 million subscribers. Bethesda games, such as Starfield, which is currently in development, will launch on Xbox Game Pass the same day they launch on Xbox or computers, Microsoft said. Microsoft has new consoles debuting on Nov. 10, the Xbox Series X and stripped down Series S version.

Sony's upcoming PlayStation 5 video game console will cost $500 and launch Nov. 12, the company said Wednesday, setting up a holiday battle with Microsoft's Xbox Series X over whose new console will turn up under more trees this year. Video game fans have been chomping at the bit for the new consoles, and not just because they've been stuck inside since March. The roughly 7-year life cycle of a video game console has been nearing an end. Last week, Microsoft said its Xbox Series X will cost $500 and debut Nov. 10, just ahead of the holidays. A stripped down version, Xbox Series S, will cost $300 and be available at the same time.
