Wrong-way driver crashes car, steals another car, crashes again

Four vehicles were involved in the incident

SAN ANTONIO – A man crashed his car then stole a good Samaritan's car, only to crash again.

It happened about 8:30 p.m. Thursday on Loop 1604 at Schultz Road in southeast Bexar County.

Four total vehicles were involved in the crashes.

Authorities said the man was heading the wrong way on Schultz Road toward Old Corpus Christi Road. The driver in a truck tried to avoid the driver going the wrong way and sideswiped the wrong-way driver.

The truck then rolled into a ditch. A female passenger in the truck was airlifted to University Hospital in critical condition. The driver of the truck was taken to a nearby hospital in serious condition.

While everyone involved was being attended to by good Samaritans, the wrong-way driver escaped that treatment and got into one of the good Samaritan’s vehicles and tried to escape, but ended up crashing into another good Samaritan’s vehicle, causing a fire.

The wrong-way driver was also in critical condition and was airlifted to University Hospital.
