Thieves hit liquor store, steal expensive booze

Police: Some bottles priced at $250

SAN ANTONIO – Thieves made off with at least $1,000 worth of stolen liquor and cigarettes after a smash and grab on the Southeast Side.

Police said around 3 a.m. Thursday, a witness reported hearing loud bangs and crashing sounds coming from Don's and Ben's Liquor Barn in the 2700 block of Goliad.

Investigators said the suspects broke into cases that held some of the most expensive liquor in the store. Some of the bottles were priced at $250.

Police said the thieves left behind cigarette cartons, broken glass and spilled booze.

Investigators said the suspects pulled the bars off of a window to get inside. Police said it was only held on by plastic screws.
