San Antonio robbery suspect arrested after store clerk bashes truck with bat

San Antonio police: Kevin Guerrero charged with 2 counts of aggravated robbery

Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a pair of armed robberies in northeast San Antonio.

The first robbery was reported Wednesday evening at a convenience store in the 13000 block of Nacogdoches.

Investigators said the suspect, 22-year-old Kevin Guerrero, walked into the store and threatened the clerk at gunpoint before fleeing with cash.

Police believe Guerrero committed another armed robbery Thursday afternoon at a convenience store in the 13500 block of O'Connor.

However, during the robbery, police said the clerk came out of the store and bashed Guerrero's windshield with a baseball bat, causing Guerrero to lose some of the money he had stolen.

Investigators tracked a truck, matching the description of the one used during the robbery, to a home less than a mile away.

Police attempted to take Guerrero in custody, but said there were indications of an explosive device inside the home.

The bomb squad was called to investigate and determined the device was fake, San Antonio police said.

Guerrero was taken into custody around 6 p.m. Thursday. San Antonio police said he would be charged with two counts of aggravated robbery and charges were pending for the fake explosive device.

No injuries were reported from either robbery.
