Teenage girl rescued from pit bull

Constable shoots, kills pit bull in 3100 block of Lasses

A Bexar County constable hears a teenage girl's screams and comes to her rescue after she was attacked by a pit pull on the city's South Side.
Police said the girl was on her way to school in the 3100 block of Lasses at 8 a.m., when the pit bull broke out of a yard and started fighting with another dog. The girl then tried to break up the fight when the dog attacked her.
A constable who lives down the street heard her cries and rushed to rescue her.
"(He) was able to help the girl who was being attacked by the pit bull," said Sgt. Earl Tovar of the San Antonio Police Department. "He was able to ... use his weapon to stop the dogs from attacking him."
The pit bull was killed.
The girl was taken to a hospital and is expected to be OK.
