Witness says driver might have fallen asleep

Four people are injured and police investigating after an Sunday morning crash a witness says might be linked to a sleeping driver.

The crash happened around 7:45 a.m. Sunday on the access road of Loop 410 near Lakeside Parkway.

According to police, a car sped off the highway and onto the access road when the driver lost control and crashed into a tree.

A witness tells police it appeared that driver fell asleep on the highway and veered onto the access road.

Four other people were in the car with the driver.

They all had to be cut out of the vehicle.

One person was airlifted to University Hospital. Three others were taken to University by EMS.

Only one person was able to walk away from the crash without any major injuries.

Investigators say one occupant of the crashed car admitted they'd been drinking, so  police are now investigating the claim and the crash.
