Raul Solis sentenced to 40 years for attack on 4-year-old girl

Victim beaten, sexually assaulted

He admitted to a January 2012 sexual attack on a 4-year-old girl and was in court for sentencing on Tuesday.

During sentencing, Raul Solis, 25, asked for mercy from Judge Maria Teresa Herr.

He said he was high on drugs at the time and now is filled with remorse.

Prosecutors showed the judge medical records documenting multiple bruises on the victim's body and internal injuries, including a lacerated liver.

Prosecutors also said Solis sexually assaulted the girl.

Herr rejected Solis' request for mercy and signed off on a plea bargain in the case that called for a cap of 40 years in prison.
