1 injured in NE Bexar house fire

Home near Windcrest may be total loss

SAN ANTONIO – A 56-year-old man was injured in a house fire Monday morning in northeast Bexar County.

According to Bexar County spokeswoman Laura Jesse, the man was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center for smoke inhalation. A 14-year-old girl may also be hospitalized as well.

Jesse said four of 11 family members were home when it caught fire in the 8700 block of Leyland Drive near Windcrest at 6:45 a.m.

A cause is unknown, but Jesse said a gas leak was a factor in the rapid spread of the fire.

The home is believed to be a total loss.
