Human skull, bones found in far South Bexar County

BCSO: Area has high concentration of illegal activity

SAN ANTONIO – A Bexar County Sheriff's deputy on patrol in far South Bexar County stumbled upon some human remains Wednesday morning.

The remains were found near Spanish Grant Road and Losoya Drive off Highway 281 outside Loop 1604.

The deputy said he found what appeared to be a human skull on a trail while looking for some stolen property.

Homicide detectives combed the area, finding more bones scattered throughout the property.

Bexar County sheriff's spokesman James Keith said the area has a high concentration of illegal activity.

"This is an area where we are familiar with people coming to do drugs," Keith said. "There's a reason why our officer was patrolling this area."

The remains were identified Wednesday afternoon as belonging to a man. Clothing found in the area lead investigators to beleive the man was wearing a green or blue T-shirt (size large) with dinosaur pictures on the front of the shirt. He was also wearing khaki shorts (size 38) and black tennis shoes (size 9 ½). The man had surgical plates on his right hip and right fibula.

Keith said sheriff's deputies will also be checking their missing persons database to see if they can find a match.

Anyone with any information about the identity of the man is asked to call the Bexar County Sheriff's Office Tip Line at 210-335-TIPS (8477).
