NW Side confrontation leads to shooting

SAN ANTONIO – Saturday night into Sunday morning San Antonio police were working to clean up two accidents and a shooting. The following is a brief synopsis of what happened overnight.

Beginning at 9 p.m. Saturday, a woman traveling at a high speed rate down US Highway 90 near Hunt Lane lost control of her vehicle and hit a curb. The impact cause the woman to drive into a privacy fence before slamming into a tree. 

She was taken to University Hospital in unknown condition and is facing DWI charges.

Then, around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday two bicyclists were riding down San Pedro near Interstate 35 when the driver of a Mini Cooper crashed into them, causing one of the bikers to slam into his windshield, roll over the top of car and land on the back of the vehicle.

The driver was arrested on DWI charges. The two cyclists refused treatment.

And on Northwest Side, police are searching for the gunman who shot a man in his 20s at an apartment complex around 5:45 a.m.

San Antonio police responded to Hamilton Wolfe and Oakdell Way near the Medical Center for a shooting in progress.

According to police, the victim got into a confrontation with the suspect after things turned violent.

The victim's friend told police, when he tried to get into the apartment the gunman shot his friend in the abdomen.

EMS transported the victim to University Hospital. The gunman is still on the loose.
