Jourdanton police searching for missing mother

Former boyfriend considered person of interest

JOURDANTON, Texas – Police in Jourdanton are searching for a 38-year-old mother and her four children after they disappeared in late May.

Leticia Marie Martinez abruptly left her home in the 700 block of Orange Street in March after moving in. The property manager said a few weeks after paying rent in May she sent a text message saying she was leaving.

Her family has not heard from her since May 26.

"She left in a pretty big rush, it appeared, [she] left many things behind in her apartment, which raised a little bit of concern on our part," said Jourdanton Police Chief Eric Kaiser. "At this point we believe she's got three little boys and a new-born girl with her, wherever she's at."

Martinez's former boyfriend, Charles Jackson, is a person of interest in the case. According to police, the two had a relationship that at times turned violent.

"There had been some police contact in San Antonio regarding a civil matter or some type of disturbance at their house," Kaiser said.

Police have no evidence to suggest that Martinez and her kids are in danger, but given Jackson's criminal record, they're eager to talk to him.

"Nothing was disturbed that would indicate that there was any type of scuffle in that [Jourdanton] residence. I just appeared that she probably packed a bag and took off pretty quick," said Kaiser.

If you have any information, you're asked to call the Jourdanton Police Department at 830-769-2241.
