SAFD: 14 people rescued from elevator at Tower of the Americas

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio firefighters rescued 14 people who were trapped in an elevator at the Tower of the Americas on Tuesday afternoon.

The elevator was reported stuck around 1:40 p.m.

The 12 adults and two children were stuck inside the elevator for about 2 1/2 hours.

A San Antonio fire official said the air-conditioning inside the elevator was not working and crews wree unable to get the elevator working again.

They had to rescue the trapped people one at a time.
