Man, boy taken to hospital

SAN ANTONIO – A man and an 11-year-old boy were taken to the hospital Friday morning after their SUV was T-boned by an 18-wheeler on the city's Southeast Side.

The SUV pulled out of the Lakeside subdivision from Lake Meadow Street onto southbound Highway 87 around 7:30 a.m. and was hit by a big rig carrying a cherry picker.

The 18-wheeler ran a red light, crashing into the SUV and pushing it about 30 feet down the road, according to a TxDOT accident report.

The man was disoriented and complained of back pain, and the boy had minor injuries. Both were taken to the hospital for treatment

The driver of the 18-wheeler was not hurt.
