House fire on city's NE Side deemed suspicious

Suspicious fire second this week in 4100 block of Sunrise Crest Drive

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio fire officials said a fire at a vacant two-story home Friday morning on the city's Northeast Side appeared to have been intentionally set.

When firefighters arrived at the home around 9 a.m. in the 4100 block of Sunrise Crest Drive, they found flames shooting through the roof.

Firefighters said it appeared that there were areas upstairs and downstairs where the fire appears to have been set. The home also didn't have electricity.

San Antonio fire Battalion Chief Steve Reuthinger said that the arson unit is also investigating a fire next door that is likewise suspicious in nature.

"We did have a fire also next door within the last week, too, and that's an abandoned building, so, obviously we're having a little issue out here with somebody that might be setting fires," Reuthinger said.
