Prison transport bus overturns in Rio Grande Valley

More than a dozen prisoners on board

RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas – A prison transport bus overturned on a highway Friday morning in the Rio Grande Valley.

The driver of the prison transport bus said he had been trying to slow down when the bus clipped a tractor-trailer.

More than a dozen prisoners were on board when the bus rolled over. It’s not clear how many people were hurt, but officials said none of the injuries are considered life-threatening.

State troopers said wet and foggy weather could be to blame.
