SAN MARCOS, Texas – San Marcos police are investigating the city’s first homicide of the year — a deadly shooting at an apartment complex Thursday night.
The shooting happened just before 9 p.m. at the Avenue at San Marcos Apartments.

Police said they found 21-year-old Terrance Valentine II dead from a gunshot wound to the head. Witnesses said he and another man got into an argument over drugs.
The argument quickly escalated. Both men pulled out guns and the other man shot Valentine, police said.
