Former assisted living employee arrested after stealing credit card from resident

Sandra Martinez, 42, charged with credit card abuse from elderly

SAN ANTONIO – A former assisted living employee has been arrested and is accused of stealing a credit card from a resident and going on a spending spree, an arrest affidavit said.

The affidavit said Sandra Martinez back in August stole the credit card from an 85-year-old resident and then swindled thousands of dollars in one month.

Martinez on one occasion used the credit card to buy a greeting card and gift card worth more than $200, the affidavit said.

The victim eventually found out about the fraudulent activity when she received a $3400 credit card bill.

The affidavit said Martinez had worked for the unnamed assisted living center for three months.

She now faces several charges including credit card abuse from the elderly and exploitation of the elderly.
