Fire marshal: Back-to-back fires in Seguin unrelated

Second fire under investigation

SEGUIN, Texas – Back-to-back fires in Seguin last week may have looked suspicious, but the fire marshal said it was just a coincidence how close they were to each other.

The first three-alarm fire broke out Wednesday night at an old grain storage facility. The fire marshal said the cause of that fire is likely accidental.

He said welders were working inside just two hours before the fire started. They accidentally started a small fire and put it out. Investigators think it was most likely still smoldering when they left.

The other fire started just five hours later at Seguin High School, which was set to be demolished. The cause of that fire is still under investigation.
