Kyle police officer dies of self-inflicted gunshot wound, police say

Fernando Solis, 28, was found in his personal vehicle around 5 p.m. Sunday

SAN MARCOS, Tx – An off-duty Kyle police officer was found deceased of a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Sunday evening, the San Marcos Police Department said Monday.

Fernando Solis, 28, was found in his personal vehicle around 5 p.m. in the parking lot of the Asbury Place Apartments, located in the 1300 block of Wonder World Drive in San Marcos.

The Kyle Police Department said in a Facebook post that it had been notified about the death.

“Our deepest condolences go out to Officer Solis’ family and to the entire Kyle Police Department,” said San Marcos Chief of Police Chase Stapp.  

San Marcos police said no suspects are being sought.
