BANDERA COUNTY, Texas – A man wanted in connection with at least four burglaries in Bandera County was captured near the RIM shopping center Tuesday after authorities reported seeing him in the area of Joint Base San Antonio-Camp Bullis earlier in the week.
Robert Lynch, 28, escaped a patrol unit Aug. 6. Bandera County officials said they captured Lynch while he was robbing a home in the Rio Hondo subdivision in Tarpley, Texas, and that he was somehow able to open a door to the patrol car and jump out.
The agency deployed a helicopter and K-9s to look for Lynch but were unsuccessful.
The search for Lynch was reignited last week when witnesses and police reportedly saw him near the Dominion. The sighting caused JBSA-Camp Bullis to be placed on lockdown as authorities searched for him.
The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force received tips about Lynch's whereabouts and took him into custody Tuesday at a home in the 20000 block of Carrie Louise Street near the RIM shopping center and the Dominion.
Authorities said Lynch would rob unoccupied homes of expensive items, including firearms, and steal vehicles at the homes.
He is charged with felonies to include felon in possession of a firearm, theft of a firearm, and failure to comply with sex offender registration conditions.
