Pearsall ISD parents outraged they weren't contacted after sex assault claim

SAN ANTONIO – The parents of Pearsall Elementary students are demanding answers over an alleged sexual assault claim made by a student.

The district has been silent about the allegations, but as of Wednesday, the Pearsall Independent School District, the city's police department and child protective services are all looking into it.

"There is a lot of questions that should be asked,” said a concerned parent who we will call Kim. “Even though it's a possibility we still need to know as parents."

Parents said the district has refused to give them information.

"I actually talked to five (district officials) in total, because I did call the school, and then I called the school district. I wasn't getting any answers from them," said another concerned parent, who also asked we not show her face and just call her Alex.

According to many parents, the students claims were made in mid-November.

"At least a call, at least a call. They can call us for so many other different things that they don't need to call us for, but at least a call notifying each parent,"  Alex said.

District officials refused to answer any questions, but issued a prepared statement.

"It's been very challenging to balance and respect the rights of all involved. I know there have been a number of rumors and unfounded speculation concerning the district and the steps taken thus far in connection with the allegations made on behalf of a student," said Ricky Ramon Pearsall ISD administrator.

Ramon said confidentiality prevented him from sharing any additional information.

The Pearsall ISD police talked to us off camera. They said they have no suspects at this time and they aren't sure how long the investigation will take.
