Recycling yard fire gives firefighters problems

Pile of trash, metal catch fire at Monterrey Iron and Metal

SAN ANTONIO – A large pile of trash and metal caught fire late Saturday night on the city's Southwest Side.

The fire was reported around 11 p.m. at Monterrey Iron And Metal Recycling in the 2300 block of Quintana Road.

The heavy smoke forced a couple of nearby roads to be temporarily shut down.

The fire took about 45 minutes to put out.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
