Yackin with the Yaks!

Yaks arrive in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO – Yackin about Yaks.

Yak Facts

Fiona made her to way to the Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch to see the newest additions, Yaks! A number of both domestic and wild Yaks have been brought in. The two have grown so different over years of evolution that they truly are considered two separate species. While domestic Yaks are of course safe, their wildlife counterparts are considered 'vulnerable,' which is a step above being endangered.

Fiona got close enough to see their big, full coats and learn that they actually shed some thickness during the summer months. The Yaks she was looking at were all apparently young females that haven't had babies yet, making them all hefers.

More than Yaks

The Wildlife Ranch offers much more beyond the new Yaks. It's structured as an 'African Safari, Texas Style." The Ranch is a Texas Land Heritage Property. The family has owned the land and used it for agriculture beyond 100 years now. It is truly a sight to see, so stop by to experience it all for yourself!
