SAN ANTONIO – A woman was killed in a three-vehicle, head-on crash Friday morning on Poteet Jourdanton Freeway near Hunter Boulevard.
The crash happened in the 9800 block of Poteet Jourdanton Freeway just after 7 a.m. Investigators with the San Antonio Police Department said the woman, identified as 26-year-old Margarita Vela, was driving a Chevrolet Colorado and crossed the median.

Police said Vela's truck hit a Mercedes SUV head-on and then a Dodge Ram 2500. The man in the SUV was rushed to Brooke Army Medical Center in critical condition, and the man in the Ram 2500 was not seriously injured.
Rescuers used the Jaws of Life to free Vela from her truck, but she did not survive.
SAPD traffic investigators are still working to determine what led to the crash.
