SAN ANTONIO – KSAT 12 meteorologist Mike Osterhage says once again a few showers are moving to the Northeast. One or two showers are possible this afternoon with partly sunny skies and a high of 74°.

The forecast however is for a nice weekend, partly cloudy and just about normal temperatures. Sunny and warmer next week, Osterhage said.

(Original Story)

It’s been a dreary, gloomy and wet few days for the area, as a cutoff low-pressure system has resided in the area for almost two weeks now. This kind of pattern has created an unstable atmosphere leading to the rainfall and cooler temperatures. Some locations have picked up 2-5 inches of rain in the process, which was much needed and welcomed since October turned out to be a dry month.

On Thursday, the upper low is still lingering close by in northern Mexico, but is beginning to lose some strength gradually. There are a few showers along the Gulf Coast, but overall, the rainfall pattern is slowly diminishing in area coverage.

In San Antonio and surrounding areas of south and central Texas, we are forecast to hold onto a decent amount of cloud coverage for Friday and into the weekend.

Though rain chances are much lower than what we have seen, we cannot rule out a stray or isolated shower, given that the low pressure system will still be in close proximity to Texas. That will keep high temperatures in the lower 70s, with morning lows in the 50s.

If you have outdoor plans, go on ahead and keep them, as any shower activity should be brief and move along rather quickly.

Once the low kicks out Sunday, sunshine will be returning by early next week. More sunshine means warmer temperatures, and highs in the lower to mid 70s expected this weekend will be more like upper 70s to near 80 degrees for next week.
