Damp Thursday evening expected, cooler air returns for the weekend

Not as cold as the front before Halloween, but cool enough to break out the sweaters!

Take the poncho out to any Thursday night football plans and keep the umbrella around for the Friday morning drive.

A cold front pushing through South Central Texas Thursday afternoon has brought both cooler temperatures and light rain to the area. Here’s what we’ll be monitoring ahead of and into the weekend:

Key Points

  • Temperatures will continue to fall into the 60s Thursday afternoon/evening and eventually settle into the 50s Thursday night
  • Pockets of light rain are also expected to roam the area along and behind the front. Take the rain gear out to any Thursday evening plans, along with the jacket
  • A few isolated showers could linger in the area by the Friday morning drive, followed by the potential for a few more Friday evening. After starting off in the chilly mid 50s Friday morning, cloud cover should hold afternoon temperatures to about 60 degrees
  • A cooler forecast returns for the weekend with highs in the 60s and lows in the 50s. Isolated showers can’t be ruled out Saturday before another round of scattered rain tries to work in Sunday afternoon and into Monday

Temperatures & Rain Chances

As cooler air funnels into South Central Texas, thermometers are expected to fall through the 60s Thursday afternoon/evening before eventually settling into the 50s Thursday night. You’ll want the extra layer Friday with morning lows in the mid-50s, followed by a high near 60° in the afternoon thanks to the cloud cover.

A few lingering showers could make for a damp morning commute, so be cautious on the roads. Most will likely catch a break from the rain around lunchtime, before a few more showers attempt to move in Friday evening. It wouldn’t hurt to take the rain poncho with you to Friday evening activities!

Weekend Forecast

A few isolated showers can’t be ruled out on Saturday, before another round of scattered rain tries to work in Sunday and into Monday. While not as cold as the front that arrived in time for Halloween last week, sweater weather returns this weekend with lows in the 50s followed by highs in the low 60s Saturday and Sunday.

A few showers will be possible at times Friday and Saturday, before another round of scattered rain works in late Sunday and into Monday.

We’ll send you updates as we continue to fine-tune the details!
