2 Harlandale ISD elementary schools undergoing complete transformations

SAN ANTONIO – Two elementary schools in the Harlandale Independent School District are undergoing complete transformations.

The district on Thursday broke ground on new buildings for Carroll Bell and Vestal elementary schools on the South Side.

The two campuses are more than 50 years old.

The new facilities will better accommodate students and staff.

“They will have up-to-date mechanical systems. Some of the classrooms are designed differently for the way we educate children today, so, again, modern centers, gymnasiums and special classrooms,” said Rey Madrigal, Harlandale ISD superintendent.

The new buildings are scheduled to be ready by the 2018-2019 school year.
