A 20-year-old man was hit by a car Friday after he tried to walk across cross multiple lanes of traffic on eastbound Loop 410.
The accident happened around 7:45 p.m.
According to police, the victim was driving east when he lost control of his car and slammed into a retaining wall.
When EMS crews arrived, the man got out of his car to make contact with them but was hit by a van as he walked across the highway.
He was transported to SAMMC and is in stable condition.
Police don't know why the victim tried to cross the busy highway.
Traffic on eastbound Loop 410 was diverted for more than an hour.
