Stepson shot by stepfather during attempted break-in

Police: Homeowner not expected to face charges in stepson shooting in north San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO – A man shot his stepson early Tuesday morning during a reported break-in at the stepfather's home early Tuesday morning, San Antonio police said.

Police said the stepson was shot around 1:20 a.m. in the 1400 block of Thorain on the North Side.

The 60-year-old stepfather told police he heard banging on windows, then heard glass shatter.

He fired a gunshot through a window and hit his stepson in the chest, San Antonio police said.

The 46-year-old stepson fled on foot and was found about a block away. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition and underwent surgery, police said.

San Antonio police said the stepson is expected to be charged with felony criminal mischief. Police did not expect the stepfather homeowner to be charged.
