Man wanted for woman's fatal stabbing turns self in

Carlos Bernard Smith charged in connection with the murder of Joyce Ann Kidd

SAN ANTONIO – A man wanted for the stabbing death of a woman turned himself in to San Antonio police Tuesday night.

Carlos Bernard Smith, 58, is accused of fatally stabbing Joyce Ann Kidd, 53, last month.

Smith walked into the Bexar County Magistrate's Office around 7 p.m. to turn himself in to authorities.

Kidd's body was found inside her car on May 10 at the intersection of Runnels and North Walters on the East Side. Police said she suffered a fatal stab wound to the chest and died at the scene.

Soon after that, a warrant was issued for Smith's arrest and his picture was featured on a KSAT Crime Fighters segment. Police said Smith and Kidd were dating, but a motive for the stabbing remained unknown.

Police said Smith has been charged with murder.
