Second suspect facing charges in Craigslist theft

Margarita Escobar, 25, linked to at least one case

SAN ANTONIO – A 25-year-old woman identified as Margarita Escobar has been arrested on one count of theft, a charge stemming from a case involving a victim who was selling property on Craigslist.

San Antonio police also have linked Roger Garza, 28, to the case and several similar thefts.

Both suspects were taken into custody on Thursday. However, police at first discussed only the details surrounding Garza's arrest.

They said Garza set up deals with people who were selling items on Craigslist, then robbed them of cell phones, tablets and video gaming systems.

Police said they recovered some of the items but fear there may be more victims of whom they are not aware yet.

Both Garza and Escobar face charges so far in connection with one case that happened on the West Side last month.

An arrest warrant affidavit stated that Garza stole an Xbox game system from a man and Escobar sold it later at a pawn shop.

The affidavit mentions that another man was involved. However, it appears that police have not identified him.
