SAPD: Family's crime spree leads to arrests of father, son

14-year-old daughter also taken into custody

SAN ANTONIO – At least two members of a San Antonio family are expected to face criminal charges following an overnight crime spree that police said involved a robbery and possible home invasion.

Officers took a man, his 15-year-old son and his 14-year-old daughter into custody after stopping their Jeep Grand Cherokee near Ruiz and 27th streets early Wednesday morning.

Police said the man and his son likely will face charges, while the daughter was detained for questioning.

The family is believed to have committed a robbery and possible home invasion during a crime spree that began around midnight, police said.

In one case, a homeowner told officers that he fired shots at the group, but apparently missed.

Police said the victims described the getaway car as a silver Jeep Grand Cherokee with three people inside.

Officers in a helicopter spotted a vehicle matching that description soon after the last robbery on the West Side, then told others on the ground where to find it.

Police said that when they stopped the suspects, they were in a silver Jeep.

They did not immediately release the names of those who were arrested.
