Woman arrested after toddler taken from home

Sandra Robinson, 55, charged with aggravated assault; Son at-large

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – A 55-year-old woman was arrested after a 2-year-old girl was taken from her maternal grandmother's home.

Sandra Robinson has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to Bexar County sheriff's deputies, 2-year-old Amara was taken by Robinson and her son, Savon Robinson, Saturday night.

Savon Robinson is Amara's father and also the ex-boyfriend of the girl's mother.

Amara was staying with her maternal grandmother Georgette Hillman when the Robinsons went to her home, officials said.

Sheriff's officials said Savon began to fight with his ex's new boyfriend when Sandra Robinson stepped in.

"We didn't know anybody else was in the car," said Hillman. "His pregnant sister was in the car, his cousin and his mom. Because Savon was not winning, his mom decided to get out and hit Don with the bat."

Sheriff's officials said Robinson attacked Hillman as well, broke a window and the Robinsons grabbed Amara.

"They said they weren't going to harm her, but the way they acted here, it didn't make me feel safe to know that they had her and I just wanted her home," said Hillman.

Amara returned back home safe on Tuesday and Hillman was emotional when speaking about the incident.

"After the incident my whole family found out about it and they were all here to support me," said Hillman. "I never thought I had that support. I know I do now. "

Sandra Robinson was taken into custody, but deputies were still searching for Savon Robinson.

Sheriff's officials said Savon Robinson has every right to be with his daughter, but it is the way he took her that was the problem.

Anyone who may know Savon Robinson's whereabouts is asked to call the Bexar County Sheriff's Office.
