SAN ANTONIO – A man was found shot in the stomach outside a South Side apartment complex around 3:45 a.m. Wednesday.
The 48-year-old victim told police he was walking at the intersection of Roosevelt and White when he was shot in the stomach.
The man told police that after he was shot, he walked from the intersection across the street to the La Pasada Del Rey apartment complex to get help calling 911.
When police arrived, they called EMS, who took the man to San Antonio Military Medical Center for treatment.
Police investigators said, however, that they did not find any blood or bullet casings at the location where the man claimed he had been shot. Several witnesses also told police they never heard a gunshot.
"I didn't even hear anything," said Frederick Hernandez, who lives directly across the street from the complex, and just a block down from the intersection.
He said he believes if shots had been fired that close, he would have heard them. Either way, he doesn't like to see police line his street for a shooting investigation.
"I've lived pretty much all my life in this area and things like this happen, but it does kind of make me nervous," he said.
He hopes soon that police will get a more comprehensive story from the victim, and find who shot him.
